Fort McIntosh Chapter, NSDAR

WELCOME

The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR or DAR) is a non-profit, non-political volunteer women's service organization founded in 1890 by a small group of patriotic women. The DAR is dedicated to promoting patriotism, preserving American history, and securing America's future through better education for children.

Historic Preservation

The Fort McIntosh Chapter, NSDAR, donates to area historic buildings and museums regularly, maintains over ten formal historic monuments throughout Beaver County, and partners with the Young Preservationists Association in support of saving historic sites.

Education

Our members participate across the state in providing informational seminars, providing local schools with educational materials on the United States Constitution, providing literacy support at the preschool and senior citizen levels, and administering the DAR Good Citizens Award to support and recognize our local students in Beaver and Lawrence counties.

Patriotism

The Fort McIntosh Chapter, NSDAR, participates in many parades throughout the year at different locations in Beaver County, spreading the joy of patriotism to the community. Our members also assist the local community band at the Fourth of July concert by passing out programs and have presented Quilts of Valor to veterans in our community.

About Us

The Fort McIntosh Chapter, NSDAR, is one of the oldest DAR chapters in Pennsylvania, organized in 1904. The chapter is in an area of Pennsylvania steeped in history dating back to before the American Revolutionary War. It can claim visits by George Washington, John Hart, General Anthony Wayne, and the Lewis and Clark expedition, among many others. We meet on alternate Tuesdays and Saturdays in Beaver County.


Membership

Over two hundred years ago, American colonists sacrificed their lives and fortunes to "establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty," as written in the Preamble to the United States Constitution. In doing so, they left a legacy to the American people.

With 94 chapters in Pennsylvania, the Pennsylvania State Society Daughters of the American Revolution (PSSDAR) has volunteers who can assist you if you need help with your lineage research.
